Taretok Child Prosperity (TACHIP) in Tanzania

Taretok Child Prosperity (TACHIP) is a non-profit organization based in Tanzania that is dedicated to supporting the educational and developmental needs of children and women in Maasai communities. Founded in 2017 and officially registered in 2018, TACHIP operates with a small team of three volunteers and one paid staff, yet it has already made a significant impact on the lives of approximately 300 children and 150 women across four villages in northern Tanzania. The organization's initiatives are inspired by faith principles that emphasize the dignity and rights of all people, the importance of education, community development, and the empowerment of women and girls.

TACHIP's approach is holistic, addressing not only academic learning but also the social, emotional, and spiritual well-being of the children it serves. The organization collaborates closely with local stakeholders, including school committees, teachers, parents, and community leaders, to enhance the educational experience and create a supportive environment for learning. TACHIP has developed a culturally sensitive curriculum that integrates Universal Design Learning (UDL) principles that also engage parents in their children's education to promote ecological awareness. Additionally, the organization provides financial support, coaching, and resources such as books, supplies, chalkboards, solar panels, and water tanks to improve the educational infrastructure in the communities it serves. TACHIP has also extended its efforts to support women through the start of a maize mill, training in constructing energy efficient stoves, community banking initiatives, self-esteem workshops, hygiene education, and agricultural training aimed at increasing crop yields.
